Become a General Member
Our events will be announced on Facebook, Slack and on our shared Calendar. Don't forget to sign in at each event to indicate attendance!
General Membership is open to anyone with an interest in technology. To be a general member, it's suggested you attend at least 4 events each semester coupled with our general meetings. For example, you could:
- Attend 1 Social Event
- Attend 2 Professional Events
- Attend Outreach Event
IEEE members are encouraged to meet come to as many events as possible as the events support the EECS community and IEEE's major initiatives. Each of these events are also great opportunities to meet your peers within IEEE!

Increase your involvement with IEEE and join a committee! Committees are a great way to get involved with IEEE's internal software development and hardware projects, increase your planning and event management skills, connect with industry leaders, and so much more!
Our committees:
- Activities
- Plans our social events such as game nights and retreats
- HOPE
- Teaching staff for HOPE Decal
- Industry Relations (Indrel)
- Works with our corporate and non-profit sponsors to plan info-sessions, tech-talks, and our semesterly Startup Fair!
- Marketing
- In charge of social media, newsletters, the blog, IEEE merch, and EE/CS course stickers
- Micromouse
- Teaching staff for Micromouse Decal
- Professional Development (ProDev)
- Plans resume and interview workshops, runs technical interview prep series
- Technical Operations (Techops)
- Manages and develops IEEE's server, executes software development and hardware oriented projects, and hosts hackathons!
- Website Development
- Designs and develops IEEE's website, Decal websites, and Startup Fair website
- Outreach
- Plans and coordinates outreach activities to the general Berkeley Engineering community

Join a Project!
This semester, IEEE Techops and Website committees are leading 2 technical projects to give IEEE General Members experience with software development virtually. No experience is required! Time commitment is around 5 hours a week. If you are interested please apply! Here are the projects:
Skribbl.IEEE
- A fun web development project for members who want to learn, HTML, CSS, Javascript, and React similar to skribbl.io
Drone Development
- Creating a drone simulation to get comfortable with programming, and programming a drone to do cool trick shots and maneuvers!
